Nauryz

Nauryz is an ancient holiday for the people of Kazakhstan and many cultures of Middle and Central Asia. It’s celebrated on March 22nd, the Spring Equinox and I was lucky enough to take part in the celebrations in Atyrau.

I had a mini solo adventure wandering around Makhambet Square. It was me, a smattering of oil company execs and thousands of Kazakhstani families enjoying themselves.

One thing that I loved were the amazing traditional costumes. Kazakh women are very beautiful and generally very slender. This is not a look I think the average English Woman could get away with!
