On Sunday myself and Michael travelled up to Birmingham to enjoy an afternoon of Athletics at the Alexander Stadium. The event was the British Championships and qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow later this year.
We were situated in the main stand in row H. This meant we were at the 50 metre mark of the track and at the beginning of the Triple Jump and Long Jump run ups.
The weather was scorching but thankfully the main stand was in the shade the whole afternoon.
I really enjoyed watching the events in person. It was fascinating watching these perfect specimens in Lycra! If I could have one wish it would be to magically wake up with the washboard stomachs sported by all the Women long jumpers!
Anyway, I can highly recommend a day at the athletics for a really good afternoons entertainment.
The triple jumper Julian Reid about to hit the runway for his Championship winning jump …
Perri Shakes-Drayton, winner of the 400 metre hurdles and in contention for a medal in Moscow.
Next stop the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium on 27th July where we will get to see the icon that is Mr Usain Bolt, yay!
