Perfecting a Juice ….

The thing I’m learning about juicing is that anything goes. I mean yes, there are zillions of recipes out there but it’s quite difficult to make a bad juice. Often just chucking in what you have in the fridge works wonders.

Since I started juicing I’ve only had one juice that wasn’t quite right. I used a yellow grapefruit instead of the milder tasting pink variety and the result was way too citrus and way too sour.

So onto what I’ve christened the ‘Sunny Day Cooler’

The_Sunny_Day_Cooler

I perfected this recipe over the last two mornings preferring the second attempt to the first. It’s all a matter of taste though, if you like sweet / citrus flavours then go with version one instead.

Version one

2 small oranges
2 small Golden Delicious apples
A handful of strawberries
A piece of ginger
A couple of sprigs of fresh mint
1/2 a lime

Version two

1 small orange
2 small Golden Delicious apples
A handful of strawberries
A piece of ginger
1/4 of cucumber
1/4 of a lemon
A couple of sprigs of fresh mint

For both juices serve over ice.

For me the addition of the cucumber made the juice very cooling and fresh tasting with the mint.

Enjoy!

    • Sharon I’m using the Phillips HR1871/00 Avance Juicer (Picture on my Pinterest ‘Juicy’ board).
Not too sure if its available in the States.

If you’re going to get one I would check out the reviews re how robust the juicer is e.g. do you have to peel and chop everything or can you just chuck whole fruit in and also probably more importantly is it easy to clean? My one only involves rinsing all the parts and a quick scrub of the filter with a nail brush. I know the cleaning puts some people off other models and it’s the sort of thing that will mean it ends up at the back of a cupboard gathering dust.

      I LOVE juicing!!!

(ps) Maybe you could invent an Ugli juice 🙂
